PLAYER

CONTACT: PM; [plurk.com profile] balsamandash

ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: Central Time; irregular hours. I have several health issues, and some days I can't tag at all. If I haven't tagged back in a while and you want to make sure I got the tag or am still planning to return it, feel free to poke me.

STYLE: No preference between brackets or prose; prefer present tense, but will match past. I sometimes have trouble keeping up with text threads for long unless they switch to in-person.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: No gore in picture prompts, no graphic descriptions of gore in tags; no eye trauma; no insects.

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGS/SLOWTIME: (there is no "too old")
ASSUMED CR: (pms are open for discussion)
MULTIPLE THREADS:
FAKE GAME SETTING/UNIVERSE CLASHES:

DEFAULT SETTING: Modern day American, somewhere big enough to have a pretty good college nearby but not necessarily big city; supernatural world with the masquerade very firmly in place.

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION:
He might seem a little standoffish sometimes, but he's friendly, really. Also: one of his special abilities allow for being touched by ghosts, and he is used to them hanging around him a lot because of that, so he'll be particularly inclined towards returning it with them.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE:
I'm up for it, but being that he is an immortal being, might be a good idea to discuss power levels first? He can be damaged, it's just difficult. He's unlikely to resort to violence unless he's really badly cornered.

MINDREADING/PSYCHIC ABILITIES:
Given his everything, he most likely will be able to tell, and may be able to close his mind. Let's discuss power levels/who's doing it.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: Registers as a normal human on every test you can run, unless you try to kill him. Immortal, and more durable than a regular human, but can be damaged. He technically doesn't have to eat, drink, sleep, or breathe if he doesn't want to, but he tends to do all of the above out of habit.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Demetrius is (one of several, in his world) a death-being, who helps ghosts, allows people to cross to the afterlife, and makes sure life and death is in balance. Death and grief-related topics are fair game.

RELATIONSHIPS

PLATONIC:
He's a caretaker in a lot of ways, especially to people who need supernatural guidance. He also just likes helping and being around people in general, even if they are fully human.

NEGATIVE:
Things trying to disrupt life's balance are automatically enemies. Other than that, he is, when it comes to this kind of thing, just a person -- he can be pissed off just like anyone else. Likely to try to avoid them, and be kinda passive aggressive if he can't.

WORK (COLLEGE)
Students, former students, fellow teachers, etc, all welcome. He tends to step in on his student's lives if he senses they need guidance about the supernatural (like if they have powers they don't understand). Otherwise, he teaches folklore and lit, is willing to mentor or help students, and usually befriends other staff.

WORK (PSYCHOPOMP)
Ghosts who he helped pass on, other death-things, other supernatural things that interact with the realm of death, all very welcome. His lore's purposefully pretty loose for RP purposes, so we can kitchen sink things together.

SHIPPING:
He is fully capable of developing feelings for someone, but romance is a pretty rare thing for him. With humans, he's likely to not make the first move even if he is interested, because the balance is a little weird, but he's willing to reciprocate; he's slightly more willing to pursue nonhumans, generally. That said, he doesn't usually seek out romantic relationships at all.

IDEAS AND WANTS

◾ Offering his time and sometimes his home to people who need help getting used to their supernatural abilities is a habit for him. Especially if their abilities are somehow tied to death and/or ghosts. Come let him mentor, he enjoys it.

◾ Ghost buddies. Ghosts kind of flock to him because he can interact with him, and he's pretty happy to hang out with them. There's usually at least a couple either haunting his home or his classroom.

◾ Friendships with people who have either canonically come back from the dead, or nearly die frequently. Basically: You know that bit in Discworld where DEATH is having a near-Vimes experience? That, give me that as a basis for CR.

◾ Hanging out with other teachers, whether they are also supernatural in some way or not.

◾ Long-term relationships (platonic or romantic) with other long-lived/immortal beings, coming in and out of each other's lives.
